Medical evacuations in French Polynesia: understanding the mechanisms that constrain or facilitate access to care, based on the experience of cancer patients

The aim of this study is to investigate the mechanisms behind people’s mobility or immobility in the face of cancer pathologies in the French overseas territories. The field of study is French Polynesia, a territory characterized by strong social inequalities and a health system designed around the main island, Tahiti, and even mainland France. Researcher Alice Servy focuses here on the therapeutic trajectories taken by people seeking care, concentrating on actions and innovations that facilitate the mobility required to care for the sick.
