As it does every year, following the completion of the research projects by the recipients of the research grants it has awarded, the Foundation organizes its annual scientific conference, “Les Rencontres de la Fondation pour la recherche humanitaire et sociale.” The 2026 event will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at Sciences Po Paris, in partnership with Sciences Po’s Center for International Research (CERI).

The scientific research conducted by the recipients of the Foundation’s research grants will shed particular light on two topics this year:

  1. The Vital Role of Communities and the Need to Involve Them in Disaster Risk Management Programs
  2. Camp-like situations and temporary housing facilities for asylum seekers

In response to these contemporary challenges, researchers are providing insights as well as recommendations for rethinking our approach and improving the lives of those we serve, which they will discuss with practitioners.

The day will conclude with the Foundation’s 2026 Research Awards ceremony, during which the 50th Research Award will be presented. On this occasion, the Foundation’s first “L’atelier des idées humanitaires” will precede the ceremony. It will be led by several award winners (2013–2025), who will discuss the “new humanitarian landscape” and launch an original publication on the topic.
