As part of National Resilience Day, the French Red Cross is organizing an event titled “Preparing Communities for Crises” at the National Assembly on October 8. This event is part of World First Aid Day and National Resilience Day. On this occasion, with the support of the French Red Cross Foundation, the organization will host a high-level symposium bringing together lawmakers, public officials, experts, and frontline workers to discuss international humanitarian law and crisis preparedness.
A high-level symposium
The Foundation’s director, Virginie Troit, will participate in the conference by moderating the roundtable discussion titled “Are We Ready? The Urgency of Civic Resilience.” Indeed, crisis preparedness and risk culture are among the Foundation’s priority research areas. By participating in the public debate, the Foundation puts the humanitarian and social research it supports to practical use. By building bridges between researchers and practitioners, it aims to contribute to the transfer of scientific knowledge, the improvement of existing initiatives, capacity building and greater autonomy, and the emergence of innovative and sustainable models for action.

In addition to the conference, the event will also feature the “Citizen Preparedness Village,” allowing the public to explore two complementary experiences throughout the day:
The Civic Preparedness Village
A village designed by the French Red Cross with the goal of strengthening risk awareness and community resilience. It is an immersive, educational program that allows participants to practice and internalize key actions and reflexes through scenarios tailored to different levels of preparedness (individual, family, and community).
