Research project

Use of health services for pregnant women and children under 5 in areas highly subject to climate hazards in Madagascar

The aim of Voahirana Tantely ANDRIANANTOANDRO’s research is to determine whether access to maternal and infantile healthcare in areas where humanitarian aid is significant and recurrent is really better than in areas which do not benefit from aid.

As concerns the demand, it will be a question of studying the therapeutic pathways of pregnant women and children under five (type of care sought, type of treatment and socio-economic, cultural and environmental factors). Concerning the supply, the aim will be to understand the interactions between the population and healthcare providers (carer-patient relationships), and those between humanitarian organisations and the health system in place (functioning of services).
